About Us

Thendral Special School & Therapy Centre for boys and girls with intellectual disability, learning disability, cerebral palsy, autism, down syndrome and ADHD in Karaikudi. We Provide a vocational skill training also. Our staff/team members are sincere and dedicated and they address the children's individual needs. They not only provide care for children, they also guide and counsel the parents in their challenges in up bringing of the children with special needs.

What is occupational therapy ?

Occupational therapy is a type of health care that helps to solve the problems that interfere with a person’s ability to do the things that are important to them – everyday things like:

Self-care - getting dressed, eating, moving around the house,
Being productive - going to work or school, participating in the community, and
Leisure activities - sports, gardening, social activities.

What is ADD/ADHD?

ADD/ADHD is a neurological disorder. The major symptoms of the disorder are Distractibility, forgetfulness, inability to concentrate, poor attention span and impulsiveness. The difference between the two disorders is ADD is Inattentive and easily distractible and ADHD is ADD with Hyperactivity. The presence of these symptoms hinders the learning of the child.

Who are the children with special needs?

Children with Special Needs (CWSN) are those who have some type of disability and require exceptional care and extra help. The special needs of these children depend on the nature of their disability. The Special Needs of CWSN may include frequent medical testing, hospital stays, equipment, and accommodations for disabilities. Various conditions and disabilities of CWSN can be classified into four major categories:
